Assist Weapon is the term about reinforcements/weapons specifically created for Gridman and other Hyper Agents such as Gridknight and Gridman Sigma to combat enemies which too much for them to handle with their own strengths.

Description[]

Assist Weapons encompass weapons and vehicles specifically devised to aid Hyper Agents in combating threats. The latter can be assembled into either a mecha or a suit of powered armor about their assigned Hyper Agents to wear thus improve their overall combat abilities. Some are created by genius benefactors such as Ippei Baba while others instead being manifestation of their Hyper Agent owner's experience with Assist Weapons they utilized in the past. Members of Neon Genesis Junior High Students Max, Vit, Calibur, and Borr, who can transform into Battle Tracto Max, Sky Vittor, Gridman Calibur, and Buster Borr respectively, are belonged to the latter, being spawned from Gridman's splintered fragments which arguably embodies his memories pertaining Gridman Sword and God Zenon.

Dynazenon and Goldburn stand out from other Asssist Weapons because since they were originally not created to fulfill the same role as the latter do. Dynazenon is a piece of technology 5,000 years back — the era Gauma and his fellow Kaiju Eugenicists used to live in — crafted with aid of the knowledge from a very distant future, the same knowledge Kaiju Eugenicists developed their own Kaiju Seeds. Dynazenon was sealed within a Chinese dragon ornament before assuming the appearance of dragon-themed combining mecha — and adapting further in response of Gridknight's presence so the latter can utilize its power in the same fashion as typical Assist Weapons. Goldburn on the other hand was meant to grow into one of Kaiju Eugenicists' Kaijus only to become something else, influenced by Chise's desire to participate with her friends in stopping Kaiju Eugenicists. Regardless, as of newfound alliance between Gridknight Alliance and Neon Genesis Junior High Students, both became proper Assist Weapons, solidified by their use by Gridman.

Gridman the Hyper Agent[]

Assist Weapons are designed by Ippei to assist Gridman in battle with monsters deployed by Kahn Digifer become much stronger than the last. In Computer World, Gridman uses the Materialization Beam to complete the process. Initially, Yuka was responsible for handling the programs until Ippei created the Assist Weapon Selecter to contain and deploy them conveniently. There are two types of Assist Weapons: Vehicle-type and Weapon-type. Weapon-types are designed as actual weapons wielded by Gridman whereas Vehicle-types assume the form of war machines that can be controlled by both Ippei and Yuka through game controllers. Vehicle-type can also assume powered suit of armor-like configuration to be worn by Gridman to increase his combat capabilities. By the time Khan Digifer decided to take matters into his own hands by fighting Gridman, he invaded Junk's server and destroyed the Assist Weapons in mere instant, gaining advantage in the battle until Takeshi Todo created the Grid Hyper Beam program to destroy him.

Gridman the Hyper Agent: boys invent great hero[]

The Assist Weapons made their appearance in adult Takeshi's recollection of past battles. The final battle against Khan is played differently, in that Dyna Dragon participated with the formation of King Gridman. After the Dragonic Cannon failed to burn Khan, the Demon King charges forward and fires his beam. The King Jet armor was the only Assist Weapon destroyed but Gridman emerged unharmed and continued the fight.

Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad[]

In Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad, Assist Weapons are programs left behind by Servo so Sam's friends can assist both him and his chosen host Sam in battle. Here, they are known as Arsenal Programs and would be piloted by any of Sam's friends.

SSSS.GRIDMAN[]

As revealed in Voice Drama 5.5, Assist Weapons are portrayed as Hyper Agents similar to Gridman, but ones that adopted default human/Repli-compoid forms which enable them to both blend in with normal human populace as well as directly watching over both Gridman's host, Yuta Hibiki, and their allies. Similar to Gridman's chosen host, they can assume their Assist Weapon forms by reaching their hands to Junk and shout the Access Code. The rest of Assist Weapons made their presence known to Gridman Alliance in which Gridman introduced them under the front Neon Genesis Junior High Students.

It's later revealed that each member of the group was spawned from their respective splintered fragment of Gridman himself, thus explained their Assist Weapon forms' similarities to their predecessors God Zenon and Gridman Sword thus may very well embodiment of Gridman's experience with them. As they still carry fragments in question, NGJHS members eventually returned them to Gridman in a bid to restore their parent/master's true form. As foreign programs who entered Tsutsudjidai and therefore not part of Akane's creations, they can block out attention from others so as to move freely without the risk of looking suspicious.

SSSS.DYNAZENON[]

Dynazenon, a giant robot that initially assumes the appearance of dragon ornament entrusted to Gauma by a princess, revealed to be able to fill the role of Assist Weapons in the same vein with Neon Genesis Junior High Students. This was first discovered by Yomogi Asanaka whose Dynasoldier unveils its cannon form Dynamic Cannon in the presence of Gridknight. The same goes to rest of Dynazenon components (Dynawing, Dynastriker, and Dynadiver) where they, alongside Goldburn, form a suit of powered armor about Gridknight in his Kaiser Gridknight form.

It's possible for a kaiju to even fill the role of Assist Weapon like Dynazenon does, but that only occurs through peculiar circumstances. The latest and perhaps only known instance of this so far is Goldburn, a unique kaiju born from Kaiju Seed fueled by Chise Asukagawa's desire not to be left out from the others and assisting her friends and cousin Koyomi Yamanaka who became Dynazenon pilots alongside Gridknight Alliance in combating Kaiju Eugenicists' forces along the way, resulting it adopting mechanical form not unlike Dynasoldier or Dynarex as well as possessing the ability to reconfigure into a massive shield or jetpack for Gridknight. For the same reason, the kaiju inherently good and sides with its creator and greater extent, her comrades thus rejects Kaiju Eugenicists' influence over it unlike its brethren.
