Koyomi Yamanaka (山中 暦, Yamanaka Koyomi) is a main character in SSSS.DYNAZENON. He is an implied NEET and cousin of Chise Asukagawa who became one of three co-pilots of Dynazenon (the other being Yomogi Asanaka and Yume Minami).
Appearance[]
Koyomi has brown hair, with bangs which over both of his eyes almost all of the time, but when you can see his eyes, they are shown to be light blue. He wears a light green jacket with black and yellow stripes on either sides of the sleeves. He wears black sweatpants with yellow stripes on the sides along with orange sandals.
Personality[]
As noted by Gauma, Koyomi is perceptive and clever despite outwardly lazy and has little things to do beside standing in front of his computer in his room most of the day. True to this, he is not only managed to master his Dynastriker, but also quick to analyze Greyjhom's combat abilities thus ensured their victory.
His laziness and lack of worthwhile goal in mind was attributed to the failure in pursuing the relationship with his middle-school crush Inamoto in the past when the chance was present, something that became apparent upon learning her marriage with another man. Unlike Mujina whom he could relate with however, Koyomi is capable of growing out of his self-pity, even if the early steps to do so proved to be difficult (saving Inamoto's husband despite his resentment towards him and understanding the pointlessness of how his life would've been if he somehow went back in time just to be with his former crush).
By the end of the series, Koyomi has since matured, though he's still awkward on certain things due to spending his time as a NEET for quite a while after graduating from middle-school.
Trivia[]
- In GRIDMAN UNIVERSE, Koyomi's house is Yuta's in the latter's home universe.
Etymology[]
The name Koyomi Yamanaka (山中 暦) is believed to come from the classical Chinese poem of "山中無曆日 寒盡不知年", meaning "a hermit living in the mountains has no idea how many years have passed".
