A Terror Melody (恐怖のメロディ, Kyōfu no Merodī)is the sixth episode of Gridman the Hyper Agent.

Synopsis[]

Takeshi takes control of Anosillus, a kaiju within an electronic keyboard, and sends murder music to ravage the city. Gridman must work with the sound spirit within the keyboard to free Anosillus, before Anosillus kills him!

Summary[]

Takeshi wanders the streets, distraught over how his kaiju Bagira was sliced and diced by Gridman in the previous episode. Hearing music from a nearby piano shop, he goes inside and picks a fight with the owner. Mad at them, he goes home and writes code which will send Bagira to the music store and take over one of the electronic instruments there. Then he will be able to generate murder music from the instrument, that will harm anyone who hears it.

6 Dad plays guitar

Dad tells how playing guitar got him to first base

Meanwhile, at the home of our hero Naoto, Dad plays his guitar. He tells the kids that every musical instrument has a sound spirit hiding inside, and that the spirit is always watching the musician's heart. The kids call B.S. to this, but nevertheless head off to that same music store to buy a keyboard. They want to connect it to their computer, Junk, to send music to Computer World.

Khan Digifer brings the upgraded Bagira to life, and the kaiju is sent to an electronic keyboard at the music store, where it materializes within the Computer World of the keyboard, and proceeds to wreak destruction. Suddenly another kaiju appears and attacks Bagira, destroying it. Could this be the sound spirit? This kaiju then unleashes a fixer beam to repair the keyboard.

Takeshi analyzes the kaiju, named Anosillus, discovering that it is an electronic animal that inhabits the Computer World. It does something within the electronics, converting sounds into music. This leads Takeshi to come up with a brilliant idea. He transmits a command sequence via musical notes, over to the electronic keyboard at the store, targeting the kaiju. Anosillus absorbs the music, and is himself converted into an evil kaiju under the control of Takeshi. The keyboard sends out Takeshi's murder music. The kids flee the store.

6 Gridman battles Anosillus

Gridman battles Anosillus

Naoto gets an emergency signal on his Acceptor, indicating that a kaiju is running amok somewhere in the Computer World. The kids convene at their computer, Junk. With a cry of "Access Flash!", Naoto merges with Gridman. Yuki types in the access code, "GRIDMAN", and Gridman heads off through the internet to the music store. He emerges within the electronic keyboard and engages Anosillus in battle.

The murder music is spreading throughout the city, and is forming a dark cloud of noise. Thinking quickly, Yuka and Ippei, at the keyboard of Junk, launch Barrier Shield. This gives Gridman a shield weapon, and the great sword Plasma Blade.

6 Unison plays a healing song

Unison plays a healing song with her baton

Just as Gridman is about to slay Anosillus, a girl runs out, within Computer World. This must be the sound spirit. Her name is Unison, and she begs Gridman not to hurt Anosillus. She plays a healing song, which sounds suspiciously like the show's opening theme, "Yume no Hero", but before it can free Anosillus, Takeshi sends a counterattack song to enforce his control over the kaiju, and it overpowers Unison's song. Anosillus carries on the battle with Gridman, who won't fight back anymore.

6 Yuki plays the healing music

Yuki backs up Unison on keyboard

Yuki once again comes up with a solution. She jacks in the keyboard which they got from the music store, and plays the healing song, transmitting it through Junk. Anosillus is freed. He again uses his own fixer beam to repair the keyboard. The murder music ceases to ravage the city.

As a bonus gift, Unison and Anosillus apply an upgrade to Barrier Shield, turning it into Gridman Sword! The kids are left to ponder just who Unison could be.
