The Legend of Dragon (竜の伝説, Ryū no Densetsu) is the eighteenth episode of Gridman the Hyper Agent.

Synopsis[]

Mecha Bagira awakens a mummy! Gridman challenges Mecha Bagira with a new weapon, the Dragonic Cannon.

Summary[]

Yuka goes to the museum to see a 5,000 year old mummy that they just got from China. Kana and Daichi come along. Naoto and Ippei stay home allegedly to do homework, but end up just reading manga. The researchers have the mummy wired up to a computer to take readings from it. Yuka tells the story of a man who could control dragons. He met a princess and fought for her country, promising to marry her after that. He finally saved the country, but members of the royal family were afraid of the man’s power and poisoned him without letting her know. She then put funeral gifts in his coffin, and killed herself.

Takeshi heard about the mummy as well. With the help of Khan Digifer, he sends Mecha Bagira to the computer at the museum. It launches a fixer beam, which travels through the wires and brings the mummy to life. The kaiju then goes on a rampage, smashing things inside Computer World. This affects the mummy, causing it to act violently towards the researchers. Then it chases Yuka and the kids through the museum. They speculate that the mummy thinks that Yuka is the princess. Yuka speaks to the mummy, explaining how the princess died. She offers it a dragon statue which was found in its coffin. It pauses for a moment, then is overcome once again by Mecha Bagira’s anger, and attacks Yuka.

Hearing about it on TV, Naoto joins with Gridman. They arrive in Computer World at the museum, and confront Mecha Bagira. Ippei sends Barrier Shield, but it’s no use. The dragon statue gives Ippei an idea, and he whips up a program for Dragon Cannon, and sends this new assist weapon to Gridman. Hoisting it as a shoulder-mounted flame thrower, he uses it to stun Mecha Bagira, then uses Grid Beam to finish off the kaiju. This turn of events in Computer World incapacitates the mummy, thus saving Yuka.
