Monster of the week: Gagula (ガギュラ, Gagyura)
Synopsis[]
Yomogi and the others combine into Dynazenon once more for the final battle.[1]
Summary[]
Gagula continued to wreak havoc as The 2nd administered pain suppressant on the dying Gauma through her baton. Not wanting to give up without a fight, Kaiser Gridknight got on his feet to battle Gagula again despite being outmatched. Meanwhile, Juuga, Onija, and Mujina are pleasantly surprised by the kaiju's emergence, more so upon learning that it and Sizumu are one in the same. Regaining their drive to fight as Kaiju Eugenicists, the three discarded their very chance to move on and asked Sizumu to take them with him to continue what they had started together. Sizumu relented and brought them in through having his kaiju body devouring them – now with four of them acting as the pilot of Gagula, the monstrous behemoth evolved further, and gained emerald meridian glows with chest and head covering splits open and emanated rainbow coloration beneath, leaving Kaiser Gridknight horror-struck as he is about to endure more punishments.
Opening his eyes, Gauma apologized to Yomogi and Yume for dragging them and their friends into the feud against his former comrades, but Yomogi tearfully argues it to be the very reason of them got drawn together to begin with and therefore had no ill-will toward him in return. Yomogi added that Gauma should personally told Koyomi about what he truly feels as well before setting out with Yume to join Kaiser Gridknight while The 2nd does her best to heal their dying friend. Kaiser Gridknight was eventually overpowered by Gagula who proceeded to dismantle his combination and scattered Dynazenon's components and Goldburn at different parts of the ruined city. Dynastriker landed right in front of Koyomi, reminding him of the time when Dynazenon claimed him as its fourth pilot against his will. This time however, he reclaimed such position in his own volition.
Gauma forced himself to get on his feet despite The 2nd's protests, making it clear that his friends' futures will be doomed if he does nothing.
Reaching Dynastriker, Yomogi briefly lamented his botched attempt to profess his love to Yume due to Sizumu's interruption before putting it aside as he leaped for its head.
Koyomi charged his Dynastriker Gagula head-on to save Gridknight, angering Mujina who yelled at him for it through the behemoth, shocking him.
While looking for her Dynawing, Yume tripped and fell, injuring her left thigh. Reclaiming her fallen ankh puzzles, she quietly reassured to Kano that the wound is nothing before pressing on. Luckily, Yomogi arrives with his Dynastriker to pick her up as this happens.
Just then, Chise found the battered Goldburn who fortunately was still in good shape despite the beating, much to her relief as it returned to aid Gridknight by protected him from Gagula's energy beam with its shield mode. However, the beam proved too much for Goldburn as Gagula blasted it aside with a single shot, infuriating Koyomi who went all-out with Dynastriker all while yelling at Mujina in the behemoth that he had enough with memorials. Though Gagula easily shrugged off his assaults, it ultimately kicked aside by Yomogi and Yume's Dynasoldier Wing Combine before it could properly retaliate. Salvos of burst missiles fired by Gauma with his Dynadiver staggered Gagula for a good measure soon after, surprising the rest of the group with Gauma himself stated that he wanted to personally apologize to Koyomi, much to the latter's confusion. Seeing no point of arguing with Gauma who clearly forced himself to fight thus prompting the reluctant The 2nd to stay on his side in case of worst-case scenario, Gridknight and the others allowed him to join the battle by reforming Kaiser Gridknight combination together once again.
Now with the group united, Kaiser Gridknight can even the ground against Gagula. Shrugging aside their opponent's rolling attack that followed by Onija's warcry which expressed his desire to wipe out humanity, Yomogi and Knight deployed Kaiser Knight Circular to pin the behemoth down in retaliation. Gagula responded by firing an energy blast to stop the attack before both combatants engaged in a physical brawl through which Dynazenon pilots expressed their resentment toward their respective nemeses:
- Juuga cries out how much Gauma's betrayal hurt him as much as he admired him more for his persistence, much to Gauma's disgust.
- Mujina blames Koyomi from stripping her of the only thing she has (kaijus) despite of him claiming he did what he had to do earlier and therefore rejects his apology.
- Yomogi and Yume confronts Sizumu only for the latter remains silent, much to Yume's frustration.
Kaiser Gridknight soon engaged Gagula in a beam struggle, but is soon overpowered. As everyone struggled to endure the blast, Yomogi unexpectedly ejected himself along with Dynasoldier before charging upon the behemoth head-on, much to Gauma's shock and confusion. Remembering his newfound ability to control kaiju, Yomogi used Instance Domination on Gagula, forcing it to cease its beam and interfered with the Eugenicists' hold over it, debilitating it long enough for him and his friends to form Dynazenon in its humanoid configuration. The giant mech wasted no time to batter Gagula before sending it flying to the sky with Full-Burst, though its opponent quickly recovered mid-air and generated its volatile sparks on the approaching Gridknight. But Goldburn combined with Gridknight as a sort of jetpack so he can swiftly approach the beast all while evading its assaults before pulverizing its back structures. Still energized, Gagula projected another energy beam against Gridknight and Dynazenon who has assumed its Dynarex form while the latter two countered the assault with their combined respective beams. In the ensuing beam rematch, Gagula eventually lost the battle, but its Kaiju Eugenicist pilots' defiance saw it still going, prompted Dynarex to slam its snout against the behemoth's skull like a battering ram while Gridknight did the same with his fist, destroying it and ended it and its Kaiju Eugenicists brief reign of terror. As everything around them fell apart, Onija remarked his disbelief over dying once again while Juuga reassured Mujina who uncertain over their own fate that kaiju will have their future yet and Sizumu remained silent.
The group's victory over Kaiju Eugenicists proved to be a bittersweet one as Gauma eventually succumbed to his internal necrosis. In his last moments, he mused that despite being unable to meet his beloved princess in the land of the living, his time there with his new friends turned out to be truly the worthwhile one and wondered whether that's what she intended from start. Through this, he remembered the third thing the princess taught to him long ago, but is unable to utter it out loud in his final breath, let alone letting Yomogi, Yume, Koyomi, and The 2nd know what it is as everything in their cockpits started to glow, forcing the pilots and The 2nd to evacuate Dynarex and has Goldburn levitated them with its force-fields while Gridknight and Goldburn held the deactivated mecha as they slowly descended back to Earth. Chise looked on in awe and relieved as they did, unaware with the passing of one of their own.
Three months later, the atmosphere around the group is still bittersweet as they gather at Gauma's tent that had since left unkempt following its owner's death during the final battle. Koyomi has gotten himself a new, shorter haircut along with black and white suit which effectively made him more presentable than he used to be, though Knight barely recognized him as the result. The newly recovered Goldburn showed up to tell the group not to drag their current predicament out as Chise interpreted before evacuating the defunct Dynarex. Yomogi and Yume brought up the fact that Gauma struggled to remember the third important thing to keep in this world after promises and love, something neither of them unfortunately unable to guess. With Golburn following the duo while carrying Dynarex, Knight and The 2nd parted ways with the group with the latter opening a portal back to Computer World. Before leaving though, Goldburn roared reassuringly to Chise that it won't forget both her and moments they shared together, leading Chise in turn tearfully expresses her gratitude to the golden Kaiju as it and Gridknight Alliance disappeared into portal along with Dynarex. With their allies from another world already departed, Yomogi told Yume, who clearly not in the best mood for the upcoming festival in their school, that they should be going as well. In that brief moment, Yomogi noticed what seemed to be Gauma's apparition watching them before disappearing before he could get a better look, leading him to brush that aside.
Chise and Koyomi stood in front of Ayame Middle School that still under maintenance due to previous Kaiju attack. Though he had since grew out of the habit, spending his time as a NEET for quite a while made Koyomi awkward on certain things; he ended up resort to ask Arata and Inamoto for help in getting a job after failed in several job interviews (it'simplied that he included his double life as Dynazenon co-pilot in his resume that his would be employers didn't take him serious enough), citing that he had to "smooch" his way in to do so. Having used with her cousin's former unemployed look made Chise remark his current appearance being weird, and Koyomi responded that the same goes with Chise's own with Ayame Middle School sailor fuku uniform, much to her amusement. Chise has since ditched her left arm warmer, revealing a beautiful black wyvern tattoo she subconsciously shaped Goldburn after, the same tattoo she painted herself not too long ago.
Meanwhile, during Fujiyokidai High School Festival, Yume's mood didn't go any better after caught Mei included her picture in the latter's part in the festival. After taking a selfie together, Yume decided to sit alone near the bridge on the building's upper floors. Yomogi was content with the presence of his parents in such event, his new step-father in particular. He had no heart to tell what truly happened to Gauma when Mrs. Asanaka brought him up, and all he could say was his friend got banned from the school for a mishap some time earlier. Meeting his friends for their Halloween café part, Yomogi was informed about Yume's absence, prompting him to set out to find her. Finally finding his girlfriend sitting alone in low spirits, Yomogi managed to convince her to join him in the festival.
Reaching his love's hand, Yomogi recalled on one last conversation with Sizumu, right during the moment he scrambled the latter and his fellow Kaiju Eugenicists' control over Gagula in their final battle; despite possessing the potential to become a proper Kaiju user, Yomogi made it clear that he rejected said gift along with 'true freedom' Kaiju provided not only because he couldn't comprehend such things, but also content with bonds and connections he made with Yume and the others, finding the latter far more valuable than the former instead of perceiving them as manacles that bind one's freedom. It was Yomogi's answer that left Sizumu speechless and remained in forlorn expression until his and his comrades' last moments.
Back to the present, Yume dropped her sulking façade as soon as she and her boyfriend held each other's hands, revealing it to be a test to see whether Yomogi wanted to enjoy the event with her on his side. It also appeared that Yomogi had professed his love for Yume for a second time some time between the final battle and Gridknight Alliance's departure as the two have become official couple around this point. Correcting Yomogi that he should call her with her birth name instead of addressing her with her surname, Yume and her boyfriend joined the others back to the festival.
We then presented with stills of various events in the Fujiyokidai High School Festival such as singing recitals and the presence of school alumnae (including Futaba Senda who may or may not have gotten over the pain from his failed relationship with Kano all those years ago) until the part where Yomogi and Yume participate in Halloween part of the event. Yomogi dressed as a mummy while Yume as the ghost of a Japanese princess with tattered and bloodied funeral dress. Yomogi noticed that s-shaped scar they received from their fights as Dynazenon co-pilots has yet to heal with Yume wished they remained through the rest of the lives as the reminder of their life-changing experiences. After taking the picture together, the two laughed happily. This, coupled with their costume choice symbolized not only fulfillment of the late Gauma's dream to reunite with his beloved Chinese princess, but also the hope of them truly reunited in the afterlife this time around.
In Computer World, Knight looked on dragon emblem and piece of cloth Gauma used to carry around as he remembered his and 2nd's late ally. The two then looked up on the restored Dynazenon, still in it Dynarex configuration as it awakened and recognized them as its new master.

Trivia[]
- Like the SSSS.Gridman finale, the series title at the final scene symbolizes the "SSSS" meaning towards the target in which Dynazenon/Gauma's spirit "shine like stars" upon the scars of his co-pilot friends, just like how Akane's "soul was saved".

- After the Gridknight Alliance's departure from Fujiyokidai, Gauma's spirit can be seen briefly behind Yomogi and Yume before he notices his presence, indicating that he wanted to make sure his friends' well-being before moving on.

Scarred Souls Shine Like Stars
- The scene showing Yomogi and Yume's scars are notable "S" shaped.
- The "S" scars highlights as the forementioned "third thing" while also denoting the meaning of the series title.
- While Chise presents no scars, the dot below the left side of her lip represents the series title's "dot" and the dragon tattoo on her right arm (which either added recently or already there all along albeit hidden beneath arm warmer she wore throughout majority of the series) embodies her lifelong friendship with Goldburn.
- In the Bilibili-sub version, the tattoo was censored out due to China's "pop-culture" ban on all media.
